Mat 16:18 - I will build my Church

18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

“You are Peter” = Gr. Petros, masculine = A huge stone
“on this rock (Petra), feminine” = A massive rock, eg. mountain range.
The church must be build on living stones. The Church is built on people who confess that Christ is the Messiah.

1 Peter 2:4-5
4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

It is one thing to receive the Lord but another to commit yourself to Him. Because we have passed from death to life, we are fit to be living stones in the Church.

Psalm 3:3 - You, O Lord, are a shield for me

3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
5 I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.

Psalm 1:1 - Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly

1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

1 Cor 2:6 - Eye has not seen, nor ear heard

9 But as it is written: “ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Phil 4:4 - Be anxious for nothing

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

James 4:6 - God resists the proud

6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Eph 1:17 - Spirit of wisdom and revelation

17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Mat 11:25 - Whenever you stand praying

25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

Mark 11:23 - Whoever says to this mountain

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Matthew 6:6 - When you pray, go into your room

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

John 5:19 - the Son can do nothing of Himself

19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

Psalm 27:4 - That I may dwell in the house

One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.

Mat 21:21 - Have faith and do not doubt

21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Heb 11:6 - Without faith, it is impossible to please Him

6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Heb 11:1 - Faith is the substance

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Without hope, there is no faith. You need to have hope for an outcome, then can build up your faith for the outcome.

Heb 4:15 - Come boldly to the throne of grace

15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

It is only when we know Him that we can come boldly before the throne of grace. Like a child who knows a person, the child is very bold in approaching that person. This is the same with us, we need to know the Lord, that we will come boldly to Him.

Gal 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Rom 8:26 - For we do not know what we should pray

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Rom 8:26-27 – He makes intercession through us! We are just vessels for the Holy Spirit. Yielding to the Spirit will open the door for the Spirit to work through us.

2 Cor 2:9 - Eye has not seen, nor ear heard

9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

We know the things of God through the Spirit of God. When we pray in the spirit, we come into the realm of the supernatural and can know the things of God. We can take the things of the Spirit and bring them out into the natural world.

1 Peter 5:5 - God resists the proud

5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

Very similar to Luke 4:6-10

Luke 4:8 - Draw near to God

8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Luke 4:7 - Resist the devil

7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Luke 4:6 - God resists the proud

6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."

Luke 11:9 - Ask, and it will be given to you

9 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

We shouldn’t be moved just by needs but by leading of the Holy Spirit. Our way of living is not by needs and circumstances but by faith, led by the Holy Spirit. We can speak to a situation, send the Word to a situation or give a command. To ask and speak versus giving a command is very different. When we command, we stand and in the authority of Jesus. When we come to the Lord and ask, we don’t command Him.

Isaiah 56:7 - A house of prayer

7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Isa 56:7 - We must be a house of prayer for all nations. Then the Holy Spirit can use us. In the spirit we can go to all the nations and prayer is the source where we can achieve that.

John 15:1-7 - Abiding in the vine

1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."

Jesus talks about the vines and branches. We are like the branches and have to be connected to the tree in order to bear fruit. We have no life in ourselves. We have to stay (abide – Gr. have your permanent home.) in Him. If His Words also abide in us, then what we ask will be done for us. Too many people nowadays don’t abide in the vines.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
